Plastic window and door removal
- Before the actual removal of plastic windows and doors, the installation technicians shall make a window and hole size check.
- Window and door removal is always carried out in a destructive manner by slitting the original window frame and its gradual removal by individual parts (unless otherwise agreed).
- The removal starts by unhanging the leaves from the frames. Installers will either take them to a place predetermined by the Client (corridor, yard, etc.), or into a container or installation vehicle if disposal of the old windows is negotiated.
- The next step is incision of the original window frame with a saw for wooden windows and an angle grinder for steel windows, in several points. The post is then cut out of those windows that have one. In case the customer insists on keeping the original frames, full account must be taken of significant damage to the reveal and more costly building-in by masons.
- Incision of the frames is followed by levering the frame out of the reveal. This operation is carried out with a crowbar using a wooden block leaned against the reveal in order to minimise the reveal damage. Damage to the facade and reveal always depends directly on the condition of the adjacent masonry.
- After removing the window frame from the reveal, the installers check the hole size, and adjust it as and if necessary. Then they clean up any remainders of rubble and dust from the hole. Installers sweep the demolition rubble (remainders of bricks, plaster, etc.) and take it to the place specified by the customer.
- Since vehicles used for window installation are not designed for transporting loose waste, rubble removal is not part of old window removal (unless the contract specifies otherwise).
- The hole is now ready for installation of new windows. If the customer prepares the hole on their own, it is necessary that they exactly observe the specified hole dimensions as agreed in the contract.
